These skills will be useful to them when conducting research on certain key concepts during their unit on the Pioneer era of the United States.

PROPOSAL FOR FINAL PROJECT

The final product of this dictionary-skills unit will be a Pioneer Dictionary the students create based on vocabulary words the students are introduced to in their social studies unit. The Pioneer Dictionary will resemble a hand bound book that they will make. The dictionary will have vocabulary definitions written out as well as synonyms, word origin, and syllabication. Each page will feature guide words. Students will be free to add more words (concepts) as they choose. They must have a minimum of ten additional words.
